This year, we have had the privilege of working closely with Walmart.org to fund 48 Upswell Fellows from Pittsburgh and Chicago as part of our signature community building event. Throughout the year, we’ve met with these Fellows to strengthen their individual and collective leadership capacity, grow their personal and professional networks, and address the adaptive nature of leading during these uncertain times.
As part of the program, we partnered with The Chronicle of Philanthropy to feature four Upswell Fellows and their perspectives or experiences during this tumultuous year. Each story highlights community-based organizations and leaders adapting to a virtual world, managing public health and economic crises, and collaborating to ensure that their communities continue to be served in one of the most challenging years of any of our lives.
