Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT) issued an open call on June 16 for industry groups and other stakeholders to submit tax reform recommendations as the Committee begins its deliberative process on comprehensive tax reform.
In a letter announcing the call for recommendations, Hatch said he is particularly interested in opportunities to provide tax relief to middle-class families, lowering rates, removing obstacles to saving and investment, and making the international tax system more competitive.
The announcement is the latest effort from lawmakers and the Trump Administration to get public feedback on tax reform. The White House is holding a series of listening sessions with key groups, including one for members of the nonprofit community, which is expected to be held later this summer.
Independent Sector will be submitting comments to the Senate Finance Committee on tax reform, discussing opportunities to expand incentives for charitable giving, as well as key policies that protect and strengthen the ability of charitable and philanthropic organizations to pursue their missions.
Organizations may submit comments by July 17 to taxreform@finance.senate.gov.
