Global Volunteer Month is happening throughout the month of April and Independent Sector member Points of Light is celebrating the impact of civic actions throughout the country and globally. It’s a time to recognize and celebrate everyday people who actively support their communities through volunteerism and other elements of the Points of Light Civic Circle®. As your organization is thinking about how to recognize volunteers and supporters in the spring, join Points of Lights and other IS members in the Global Volunteer Month movement.
“Over the past few years, more has been asked of organizations than ever before and it’s the power of people that has enabled them to deliver on their mission,” said Diane Quest, interim president and CEO, Points of Light. “Global Volunteer Month is a time to celebrate the individuals who volunteer, donate, advocate for your cause, bring skills-based service and so much more. Amplifying these stories helps people recognize their power and share their light with others.”
Points of Light has made it easy to join in. Download your Global Volunteer Month toolkit with sharable messages, social media graphics, recognition ideas, and sample materials. These resources make it easy to recognize volunteers and raise awareness for your organization’s needs and funding opportunities. As part of this monthlong celebration, you’re also invited to add your opportunities to Points of Light Engage, the world’s largest digital volunteer network. And don’t forget to nominate a volunteer for the Daily Point of Light Award – help shine a light on their work and inspire others to answer the call to make a difference.
There are so many ways to be a part of Global Volunteer Month, and Points of Light invites you to make the most of this time, throughout April and all year round.
This month and throughout the year we celebrate the contributions of Independent Sector’s members who advance volunteerism including the Do Good Institute, Chicago Cares, Inspiring Service, Minnesota Alliance for Volunteer Advancement (MAVA), Reinvigorating the Conversation: Volunteerism, Service-Learning and Community Change, Timecounts, United Way Worldwide, VolunteerMatch, and many more.
Independent Sector will soon release the new value of volunteer time.
