This month’s issue showcases Neighbors Together, which is committed to ending hunger and poverty in Ocean Hill, Brownsville, and Bedford-Stuyvesant, among New York City’s lowest-income areas.
Amy Blumsack, MSW, director of organizing and policy, and Annie Carfolo, campaign manager, discuss the direct connection between ending hunger and poverty in Brooklyn to housing and voter engagement. They’re educating people about recently changed laws that restore the ability of formerly incarcerated individuals to vote again and have become a trusted ally in efforts to increase civic participation in their community.
