Nonprofit VOTE and Independent Sector are partnering to bring you a new blog series, Mission Possible. This series will explore the different ways a variety of nonprofits are embedding voter engagement into their work. We believe that even limited voter engagement can help you enhance your mission and drive positive change for your communities and the people you serve. But don’t take our word for it, check out these examples. Each month, Mission Possible will feature one organization and the unique way they are mobilizing their communities.
In our latest installment of Mission Possible, we caught up with Louisa Hackett, founder of Community Votes, a New York City-based nonprofit that helps local organizations integrate nonpartisan voter engagement into their mission. Through their work, Community Votes helps nonprofits realize that even when working with limited budgets and knowledge, the best (and sometimes safest) place to test your organization’s limits is with those you trust the most. This installment takes a look at how Community Votes works with local organization to engage their staff and ultimately their communities in nonpartisan civic engagement.
