The Yes Project: The Research Case for Prioritizing Young People in Economic Recovery
The Yes Project has returned with ongoing research and an infographic to better understand how young people’s work experiences have been affected over the past year. According to the data, young people were hit the hardest by the economic downturn caused by the pandemic, and the industries that typically employ them continue to struggle. Young people of color, in particular, indicated persistent concerns about their financial stability, personal wellbeing, and their professional futures.
The document also outlines numerous opportunities within federal policy to alleviate many of the pandemic-related employment obstacles our nation’s youth currently face. From subsidized jobs, to job training, to mental health supports, The Yes Project believes young people should be at the center of economic recovery efforts and that Congress must act to support this vulnerable community.
