Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL) has been selected to serve as chair of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Tax Policy for the 115th Congress.
Roskam, who previously chaired the Oversight Subcommittee, will help direct efforts to overhaul the tax code in 2017, one of the top priorities for Republican leaders. He has led efforts in recent years to increase oversight of the Internal Revenue Service and sponsored legislation on tax-exempt donor privacy.
Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) has said he hopes to complete tax reform legislation, based on the June 2016 blueprint document, early this year.
A complete list of Ways and Means Subcommittee majority leadership assignments is available on the committee website. Democrats are expected to announce their subcommittee assignments in the coming days.
