2023-2024 Listening Tour
Independent Sector President and CEO Dr. Akilah Watkins embarked on a cross-country Listening Tour in 2023 and 2024 to hear from IS members and partners about sector challenges, trends, and opportunities to help shape our strategy going forward.
The tour included nine in-person stops in Chicago, New York City, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Dallas, Seattle, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC. It also included a virtual listening session to ensure that those who were unable to attend in-person could participate and share their feedback.
About the Tour
Since its founding, Independent Sector has been the “vital meeting ground” for leaders in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector. The Listening Tour served as the latest and most interactive way for us to share meeting space for intimate conversations between Independent Sector leadership and sector leaders across the country. At each event, we listened and took stock of where the sector has been, to inform our strategic planning for future initiatives.
