Read in-depth highlights from Threads Phoenix
On August 27 more than 150 leaders from charities, foundations and local government convened for Threads Phoenix to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing their organizations, the nonprofit sector, and the community. Themes that emerged during the conversation included the challenges faced by charitable organizations in securing access to sufficient and sustained funding in order to advance their missions. The opportunity for the establishment of longer-term collaborative relationships, including clearer goals and measures, between charities and foundations was also stressed. Attendees also voiced the importance of the sector engaging actively in public policy conversations and also working to register and encourage to vote those in the communities they serve. Threads Phoenix also included a thoughtful panel conversation on the issues of racial diversity and economic degradation, and the disparate impact they have on lower income individuals and families.
